Rule 5d – Automatically Deletion of Manufacturer Master Data Records in ServiceNow

Rule Synopsis

These are the rule/s that control whether CI Sync automatic deletes Manufacturers (or not) from the ServiceNow Company (core_company) table.

Rule Details and Default

  • By default, CI Sync does not delete existing Manufacturer records from the ServiceNow core_company table.
This may be useful if the additional Manufacturer records created/inserted from source system (via CI Sync) have value within ServiceNow beyond just the source system related assets/CIs.

Override Options

Context

Customers may consider overriding the default rule so that CI Sync does delete Manufacturer records from the company table.

Options

  1. The rule can be amended so CI Sync does delete existing Manufacturer records from the ServiceNow core_company table.

If enabled, the deletion conditions are as follows:

  • Only Manufacturer records are in-scope for deletion (no other type of company records).

  • CI Sync will delete records previously created or referenced by CI Sync (i.e. this means CI Sync may delete records created manually or from any other source).

  • CI Sync only deletes the Manufacturer record when there are no remaining references from individual CI records (either main/parent CIs or child CI records) to the Manufacturer record in core_company.

This rule is not currently applied to Lansweeper Cloud as the source system of a given CI Sync job. Syncfish are currently researching the ability to include this rule for Lansweeper Cloud in the future. (information valid as at )

Overriding via Connection Settings

Customers can perform the override using a “Connection Setting” via the CI Sync User Interface (i.e. customers can perform the overrides themselves). Additional information for this is available via the following documentation:

  1. For a general overview of CI Sync Connection Settings please read Understanding the use of CI Sync Connection Settings.

  2. For the specific CI Sync Connection Setting/s related to the rule described on this page please read Manufacturer Master Data Handling in ServiceNow .
