Manufacturer Master Data Handling in ServiceNow

These instructions assume you have already setup a source connection in CI Sync for ServiceNow.

Locating and Amending the Connection Setting in the CI Sync UI

1. Navigate to the Settings pageNavigate to the Settings page

2. Under the Destination Connections heading (list), locate your ServiceNow connection (it will be either a Non-PROD “TEST” connection or the “PROD” connection depending on which one you need to amend).

3. Click the Update link on the right hand side of the ServiceNow connection.

4. Scroll down and locate the Additional Settings Heading and view the Individual Connectoin Setting related to this guide.

5. Tick the Override default box/boxes and then use the sliders related to the individual settings. The following table elaborates any further information about these particular settings.

Synchronize Manufacturer Master Data	Slider	When enabled (the default position), the manufacturers are synchronized into the ServiceNow core_company table (i.e. CI Sync extends the core_company table with additional manufacturer and vendor records). Note: core_company is only updated if the setting (i.e. the “Synchronize Manufacturer Master Data” setting) AND any one of related “Synchronize xyz” settings are enabled (which set the manufacturer/carrier at the CI level). That is, when enabling the “Synchronize Manufacturer Master Data” setting you must also enable at least one of the following connection settings (which operate at the CI level).
Delete Manufacturer Master Data records	Slider	When disabled (the default position), CI Sync will not delete manufacturer records from the core_company records (i.e. not delete those records under the conditions described below). When enabled, when a manufacturer is deleted in the source system CI Sync will attempt to delete the corresponding ServiceNow core_company record. If enabled, the deletion conditions are as follows: Only Manufacturer records are in-scope for deletion (no other type of company records). CI Sync will delete records previously created or referenced by CI Sync (i.e. this means CI Sync may delete records created manually or from any other source). CI Sync only deletes the Manufacturer record when there are no remaining references from individual CI records (either main/parent CIs or child CI records) to the Manufacturer record in core_company.

6. After modify the settings, scroll to the bottom of the page, tick the “I consent…” checkbox and finally click the Save connection button.

7. You can now run a sync job and the amended settings will be applied causing the CI Sync Data Sync rules to be modified accordingly.
