Rule Synopsis
These are any custom rules to control how CI Sync determines or “elicits” the Location value of a given source system Asset when the Standard Asset Location Determination options are not suitable.
Rule Details and Default

Customers may have complex requirements which mean the Standard Asset Location Determination Options (Rules) cannot be applied.

This can often be the case in large/complex businesses across different geographical boundaries, with multiple business units and/or multiple entities within a single company.

To determine location in these complex scenarios CI Sync can extract values, or portions of values, from any available attribute associated with the source data. Examples include the use of hostname/asset name (or a portion of the same), registry (or similar OS persisted values), tag values and similar.

As long as there is a source system attribute to provide a location “clue”, CI Sync can leverage the data to persist location data in each CMDB CI record.
