Rule Synopsis
These are the rule/s that control whether CI Sync jobs filter (i.e. ignore) certain devices and therefore do not create/update the corresponding CIs in the ServiceNow CMDB.
Rule Details and Default
-
By default, CI Sync does not filter devices (except for those with scanning errors as described in Rule 17 - Handling of Assets with Scanning Errors in Lansweeper On-Prem).
Override Options
Context
Customers may consider overriding the default rule for two typical reasons:
-
While testing. Filtering devices is a way of reducing the number of records processed and thereby speeding up the testing process (e.g. if you have 50,000 windows PCs you may want to filter a portion of these to reduce the number of PCs sync’d during a testing period).
-
To faciliate a progressive sync/CMDB rollout. Some customers have utilised device filtering in Production to facilitate a progressive asset synchronization as part of a rollout strategy. Syncfish strongly recommend you contact us to discuss Production filtering before you configure device filtering in Production.
Options
-
The rule can be amended so CI Sync will only synchronize devices that have an IP Address within a defined CIDR ranges (this is an “Include” override).

Overriding via Connection Settings
Customers can perform the override using a “Connection Setting” via the CI Sync User Interface (i.e. customers can perform the overrides themselves). Additional information for this is available via the following documentation:
