Rule 19 - Define whether ServiceNow SAM Pro is Installed when Software Licence Keys are Synchronized to ServiceNow for Lansweeper On-Prem

Rule Synopsis

This rule controls the behaviour of CI Sync when writing specific attributes into the ServiceNow alm_licence table if a customer includes Licence Keys for Windows Servers or Windows PCs in a synchronization job.

Note: These rule/s are only applicable to customers subscribed to CI Sync Enterprise Edition.

Rule Details and Default

  • By default, CI Sync assumes the following:

    • CI Sync assumes the customer does not currently have the ServiceNow SAM Pro module installed.

    • CI Sync assumes the customer has never in the past had the ServiceNow SAM Pro module installed.

  • Based on the above default, CI Sync writes to certain fields in the alm_licence table in ServiceNow.

Override Options

Context

If customers have, or have had, SAM Pro installed then CI Sync needs to write to several different fields in the alm_licence table to ensure several additional field validation rules are abided by.

Options

  1. Customer can override CI Sync’s default assumption of no SAM Pro installed (currently or in the past) such that CI Sync will change the attributes populated into the alm_licence table.

Overriding via Connection Settings

Customers can perform the override using a “Connection Setting” via the CI Sync User Interface (i.e. customers can perform the overrides themselves). Additional information for this is available via the following documentation:

Additional Information

  • This rule is only applicable to CI Sync Enterprise Edition (it does not apply to CI Sync Professional Edition as Pro edition does not allow sync’ing of Lansweeper Software Licence Keys).

  • The rule is applied only when customers select “Licences” as part of the scope of a sync job that includes Windows Servers or Windows PCs (as shown in the screen shot below).
