Answer

In brief, you should only ever need to run daily Delta syncs to keep your CMDB up to date.

To use CI Sync effectively and efficiently, we recommend scheduling Delta syncs every day.

The first sync will always provide a Full sync irrespective of whether “Delta” or “Full” is selected for the job, given there has never been an initial sync to provide a delta. After that, Delta syncs will seamlessly keep your CMDB up to date by delivering any new discovered records and updates to existing records.

Delta syncs are designed to be comprehensive and this approach eliminates redundancy and optimises resources whilst still ensuring you are regularly receiving the latest updates to your CMDB. If you have a need to receive updates into the CMDB more regularly, then you may want to consider an additional Delta sync scheduled in-between the daily Delta syncs.

While the option for a Full sync is available, it is rarely needed. Please reach out to us if you believe you have a use case which would require periodic Full syncs as we would love to discuss this further with you.
